A guided course built on Andrew Loomis's classic approach to drawing the head and hands, from his book Drawing the Head and Hands.
It starts from the single idea his whole method rests on: the head is a ball flattened on both sides, divided by a centre line — and from that simple foundation every angle, every character type and every expression is derived. From there it builds up through the planes of the head, the bone and muscle structure beneath the surface, the features and how they mechanically work, and the expressions they produce. It then covers the female head, the baby head, and the heads of boys and girls at each age, and closes with a full part on the hands: their anatomy, proportions and action.
The book is delivered as a guided reading split into parts, with 93 plates to draw from — one plate at a time.
